1. Who we are
ShareLime ("ShareLime", "we", "us") is a dating and social discovery app operated by Trishp Arora, an individual developer based in India. "ShareLime" is a trading name; the operator named above is the data controller responsible for your personal information. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
ShareLime is intended only for people aged 18 and over.
2. Information we collect
- Account & profile: phone number or email address, name, date of birth, gender, bio, photos, and short videos ("Reels") you upload. If you sign in with Google, we also receive the information described in section 4.
- Preferences: who you're interested in, age range, and maximum distance.
- Location: your device's location, used to show you nearby matches and to display your approximate city on your profile. See section 3 for full detail.
- Photos, videos & media: images and videos you choose to upload as profile photos, reels, or chat attachments.
- Messages: the content of chat messages you send to your matches, including any images you share in chat.
- Calls: we do not record the audio or video of your calls. We process call metadata only — who called whom, when, call duration, and connection state — so that calls can be routed and displayed in your history.
- Activity: likes, passes, matches, and reel interactions (views, likes, comments, saves).
- Device data: device information, including a push-notification token and the limited technical identifiers required to deliver notifications and keep your session signed in. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- Reports & safety: information you submit when reporting or blocking another user, and records of moderation actions taken on your account.
3. Device permissions and why we need them
ShareLime asks for the following permissions. You can decline any of them, and you can change your mind at any time in your device settings — the rest of the app keeps working, but the features listed below will not.
- Location — used only while the app is in use, to show you matches near you, to apply your distance preference, and to fill in your city. We request precise location for accurate distances; if you grant approximate location only, the app still works with reduced accuracy. We do not collect location in the background, and we do not track your movements over time. We store only your most recent location, which is overwritten each time you refresh it. Other users never see your exact coordinates — only your approximate distance and city. You can decline or revoke this permission in your device settings; if you do, you can still use ShareLime, but nearby matching will be limited.
- Camera — used to capture profile photos, record and upload reels, send photos in chat, and to transmit your video during video calls. We access the camera only while you are actively using one of those features.
- Microphone — used to transmit your voice during audio and video calls, and to record audio as part of any reel you film in the app. We do not access the microphone outside of these features, and we do not record calls.
- Photos, media and storage — used so you can choose existing photos and videos from your device to upload as profile photos, reels, or chat attachments. We access only the specific files you select; we do not scan or upload your gallery.
- Notifications — used to alert you about new matches, messages, and incoming calls. You can turn these off in-app or in your device settings.
ShareLime does not access your contacts, your call logs, or your SMS messages.
4. Signing in with Google
ShareLime offers Google Sign-In as an optional way to create or access your account. If you choose it, we receive from your Google account:
- your email address — to identify your account and let you sign back in;
- your name — used to pre-fill your profile name, which you can edit;
- your profile photo — used to pre-fill your profile photo, which you can change or remove.
We use this information only to create and secure your account. We do not post to your Google account, and we do not access any other Google data. You can instead sign up with a phone number or email address if you prefer not to use Google Sign-In.
5. How we use your information
- To operate core features: matching, chat, audio/video calling, and reels.
- To show you relevant people nearby, based on your location and preferences.
- To keep the platform safe: reviewing reports, blocking abusive users, detecting fake or spam accounts, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To send you notifications about matches, messages, and calls.
- To provide customer support and respond to account or deletion requests.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
6. Analytics and advertising
ShareLime does not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, we do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
ShareLime does not currently include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs — there is no Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, or comparable tracking software in the app. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before doing so.
7. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers who help us run the app, under agreements that limit their use of your data to providing the service to us:
- Google Firebase — account authentication (phone, email, and Google Sign-In); push notifications; real-time delivery of chat messages and call signalling; and storage of the photos and videos you upload.
- Google Cloud — underlying cloud storage and infrastructure for the above.
- Agora — routing of real-time voice and video calls. Agora processes call metadata and the live audio/video stream needed to connect your call. Call content is not recorded or stored by us.
- Fly.io — hosting for our application servers.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting for our database, which holds your profile, matches, and message history.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not allow these service providers to use it for their own marketing or advertising purposes — they may only process it to provide their service to us.
We may also disclose information where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of our users or the public.
Your public profile information (name, age, photos, bio, and approximate distance) is visible to other users as part of normal app functionality. Reels you post are visible to other users. Messages are visible only to you and the recipient.
8. International data transfers
ShareLime is operated with cloud infrastructure located outside your country. Our application servers run in Singapore (Fly.io), our database is hosted with Amazon Web Services, and Firebase, Google Cloud, and Agora operate global infrastructure that may process your data in the United States and other countries.
This means your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from those of your own country. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — and we require our providers to protect your data to the standard described in this policy.
9. Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the ShareLime service you signed up for: your account, matching, chat, calls, and reels.
- Consent — for location, camera, microphone, photo access, and push notifications, each of which you grant through a device permission prompt and can withdraw at any time in your device settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.
- Legitimate interests — to keep ShareLime safe and functioning: preventing fraud and fake accounts, investigating reports, and securing our systems. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.
Because ShareLime is a dating app, some information you choose to add to your profile may reveal sensitive characteristics (for example, your sexual orientation). You provide this information voluntarily and, by adding it to your profile, you explicitly consent to it being displayed to other users. You can remove it at any time by editing your profile.
10. Data retention
- Account data — kept while your account is active.
- On deletion — when you delete your account, we immediately and permanently remove your profile, photos, reels, matches, messages, and interactions from our live systems, and delete your authentication record. This is not reversible.
- Backups — residual copies may persist in encrypted infrastructure backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are overwritten.
- Safety and moderation records — reports made about a user, and records of bans, are retained after account deletion where necessary to protect other users, prevent banned users from returning, and comply with legal obligations. These records are minimised and are not used for any other purpose.
11. Your rights and choices
Whatever country you are in, you can:
- Access your data — view the profile, photos, preferences, matches, and messages we hold for you directly in the app. For a copy in portable form, email us using the details in section 15.
- Update or correct your data — edit your profile, photos, and preferences at any time in the app, or ask us to correct anything you cannot change yourself.
- Delete your data — delete your account in-app via Settings, or from the web from the Delete Account page on our website: https://sharelime-backend.fly.dev/delete-account.
- Control permissions — grant or revoke location, camera, microphone, photo, and notification access at any time in your device settings.
- Contact us — reach our support team using the details in section 15.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion; we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We respond to requests within the timeframe required by applicable law, and at most within 30 days.
12. Safety, moderation and community standards
Dating apps carry real-world safety risks, and we take specific measures to reduce them:
- Blocking — you can block any user at any time. Blocking is immediate and mutual: you disappear from each other's feeds, matches, and chats.
- Reporting — you can report any user or reel from the app. Reports go to our moderation team, who review them and can warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts.
- Content moderation — our moderation team reviews reported profiles, photos, reels, and messages against our Terms of Service. Reviewing a report may require a moderator to view content you have posted or, where it is the subject of the report, messages you have exchanged.
- Fake and spam accounts — we use automated checks alongside human review to detect and remove fake, duplicate, and spam accounts. These checks are not used to make decisions that produce legal effects about you without human involvement; if your account is banned, you can contact us to have that decision reviewed by a person.
- Age — ShareLime is for adults aged 18 and over. We collect your date of birth at sign-up and remove accounts we find to belong to minors.
We do not conduct criminal background checks or identity verification on users. Please use your own judgement when meeting people, and tell someone you trust where you are going.
13. Security
We protect your information with measures including:
- Encryption in transit — all traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS, and our servers reject unencrypted connections.
- Encryption at rest — your data is stored on encrypted cloud infrastructure.
- Credential protection — user sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your Google password. Administrator passwords are stored only as salted bcrypt hashes.
- Access controls — access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel who need it, and administrative tools are protected by authenticated, role-based access.
- Secure infrastructure — we rely on established cloud providers (Google Cloud, AWS, Fly.io) and keep our systems and dependencies updated.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, or you find a security issue in ShareLime, please contact us at the address in section 15.
14. Cookies and similar technologies
This website (our privacy policy, terms, and account-deletion pages) does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or similar technologies, and does not profile visitors. The ShareLime mobile app does not use cookies; it stores a small amount of data locally on your device (such as your sign-in session and app settings) so that you stay signed in. If we introduce cookies in future, we will update this policy and provide a consent mechanism where required.
